Sharp, Elegant, Clean, and, functional.

I received my Sharge Disk Plus along with accessories and from opening the box I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the packaging is. It feels premium and the instructions for English are nice and clear. I will say though I had to watch an additional Youtube video and I think a point worth mentioning is that if, when you undo the screws, to open the enclosure, the backing doesn't always just open and without a pry tool I didn't know how to open it. In the Youtube video I saw it mentioned that under the cable in the cutout tray if you press gently on that you can open the enclosure and that is what I had to do. I think it is worth noting that as an a little asterisk since the enclosure was so secure I couldn't open it. Definitely not a problem but I did mark up my drive trying to open it that if there was that extra bit of instruction would have avoided that but it doesn't impact the experience or function in anyway I am just a stickler about giving 5 stars unless I think something is perfect so it is very good but there is a hiccup that could be resolved with a few more lines of text 🥹 I think it's worth doing. I didn't want to use another tutorial but everything else was clear and I like the magnetic pad comes with two of those ring attachments and it was very easy to install and I got it lined up just how I like it. I am definitely gonna purchase another one though and I would recommend them pretty much anywhere I can now. I love how thin it is. The weight is just right and the design is stunning.

Discounting for MacBook Air Users

There are some negatives that make this not the perfect solution I was looking for. To start, with a 10gbps cable that’s included or your own, you do get 1gbps transfer speeds. So that’s as advertised.

Now for the negatives I’ve noticed after buying this exclusively for my MacBook Air M4 13”. The right angle cable is too short to orientate it as shown in the marketing photos. I tried looking for other pictures or first hand accounts of people using it attached in that position and have no come across any. I had to position it virtually on the MacBook with the data connection on the bottom and the charging connection on the top to get it to look and function with the right angle cable.

Even if the cable was the correct length, using it on the MacBook like in the marketing material would mean either the lid open the logo in upside down because of the side the data port is located on.

With that all aside since I could live with it mounted virtually, I noticed it really heats up when connected to a MacBook air and not in use. It would almost be burning up hot and when the MacBook is in sleep, it drains the battery quickly and still stays hot. Now the ideal solution I was looking for and a shame still in 2025 Apple sells 256gb storage for laptops. I’ve since returned the MacBook air and will probably use this as a portable SSD for my windows computers.

I did come across some reviews mentioning the build quality and how “cheap” it feels and that’s the one thing I disagree on. It’s all aluminum and sturdy. The metal acts as a heat sink… I’m now really sure what can be said is cheap about this, I’m satisfied with the quality but it just hasn’t proved as practical as I thought for the MacBook Air based off the marketing versus a $15 CAD 10gbps enclosure that I could have bought.

Great Enclosure

I bought one last week and had it in 5 days through the US Mail. Installation was a breeze. I've never been one for packaging until Apple started their user experience with their packaging. The Sharge packaging rivals that of Apple's. I was very impressed with the packaging experience. There are several small screws that need to be removed to install the SSD. Sharge gives you extras just incase of one of those "Oops" moments. The necessary screwdriver was included and all was packaged so nicely. Within in minutes I had the SSD installed and plugged in. I installed a 4TB FireCuda. Simple file transfers did not affect the heat level. I loaded up some prepress files for the printer and the temperature was just fine. I'll be ordering a few more of these today. The compact design, the built in cable everything was very well thought out. What impressed me just as much was the price. Thanks Sharge! Great product, great presentation, just all around GREAT!

You will get a charge out of this….

A really neat way of transferring data between phones a computers. Extremely compact including the short cable and in my case the magnetic adapter which clips the SSD securely to the phone or with the metal rings, to the laptop. Using mine as a 2Tb drive handling video transfer without problems and yet so compact and portable, I take it everywhere. Highly recommended.
